$20 First Charter National Bank Notes

Twenty Dollar Original Series National Bank Note Value

Original Series $20 National Bank Note

Twenty dollar original series national banknotes were the first type of national bills ever printed. These notes were printed in 1874 and prior. You can tell by the seal, like the red seal on the bill pictured above. If it’s a red spiked seal, it was printed 1874 and earlier. If its a red scalloped round seal, it’s printed 1875 and later. This isn’t a big difference in price most of the time, but if you know a collector who collects like this, it may be more valuable to that collector.

Value: A poor condition $20 first charter national bank note will bring about $750. Depending on the bank, a better condition note will bring about $4,100. Sometimes the value of these bills can be over $13,500 if its a good bank and great condition.

$20 National Gold Bank Notes

Twenty Dollar Gold National Bank Note

The easiest way to know if you have a $20 national gold bank note is by reading the top center of the note which will read “Redeemable in Gold Coin”. These are some of my favorite type of banknotes to collect although they’re extremely difficult to get your hands on, especially in great condition. If you have a banknote similar to the one pictured above, it’s important you contact a paper money expert before taking it to a local pawn or coin shop where you’ll almost always get low-balled.

Value: A poor condition $20 gold national bank note will bring about $1,300. Depending on the bank, a better condition note will bring about $3,700. Sometimes the value of these bills can be over $11,000 if its a good bank and great condition.

$20 1882  Brown Back National Bank Notes

Series of 1882 $20 Brown Back

It’s not often we get offered a twenty dollar 1882 national banknote but when we do, we make sure to offer strong. This series isn’t necessarily incredibly rare but they can be extremely valuable and collectible depending on the charter number for the bill. Remember, on a 4-note sheet of national currency there were three $10 bills and one $20 bill, making it that much more difficult to acquire.

Value: Poor condition $20 brown back nationals are worth $240. Decent condition bills from a decent bank can bring $950. Great condition nationals from a rare bank can bring over $2,100.

$20 1882 Blue Seal Date Back National Bank Notes

Twenty Dollar 1882 Blue Seal Date Back National Bank Note

Twenty dollar national banknote date back bills are easy to distinguish between other varieties. Turn the bill over and look at the back center of the bill. Does it say “1882 – 1908” at the center, like the bill pictured above? If yes, you have a date back bill.

These can be collectible if you find the right collector for your specific bank. Luckily we’re in contact with a lot of collectors who want to get their hands on these types of notes.

Don’t forget, we’re big collectors of all national currency as well. The type of bill you have… value back, date back, brown back, isn’t as important as the charter number of the bill (the number on the bill, 2572 for example the bill pictured above).

Value: Poor condition $20 blue seal 1882 date back nationals are worth $230. Decent condition bills from a decent bank can bring $910. Great condition nationals from a rare bank can bring over $5,400.

Twenty Dollar 1882 Blue Seal Value Back National Bank Note

Blue seal value back $20 national banknotes can be very valuable depending on the serial number, condition, and the bank the bill was issued for. There are many variables to take into consideration before being able to fully determine how much the bill is worth. $20 1902 Red Seal National Bank Notes

1902 Red Seal National Bank Note

Hands down one of the most difficult types of bills to acquire is the twenty dollar 1902 red seal national banknote. The $20 above is from Oberlin, Ohio. If you have a bill that has a strange or unique name, that may also be another factor that increases the value of the bill. It’s not common for someone to contact us about a bill like the one pictured above, but we definitely get our fair share of red seal national banknotes. If you contact us with a red seal national, chances are it’s going into our personal collection if you’re happy with the price we offer you.

Value: Poor condition $20 red seal 1902 nationals are worth $205. Decent condition bills from a decent bank can bring $1,000. Great condition red seal nationals from a rare bank can bring over $8,500.

1902 $20 Blue Seal National Bank Note

When people call, text, and email us about a $20 national banknote most of the time its for a 1902 blue seal national bill. This is because these notes are the most commonly found in collections today. That doesn’t mean they aren’t valuable as we’ve paid over $32,000 for rare $20 national blue seal bills before if the market calls for it. We’re strong buyers of this type of paper money, consider us serious buyers.

$20 1929 Small Size National Bank Notes

Twenty Dollar 1929 Small Size National Bank Note Value

Series of 1929 Type 1 $20 National Bank Note

What makes the $20 small size national bank note pictured above rare is its serial number one. The first national bank of McGregor, Iowa isn’t a particularly rare bank. If it wasn’t for serial number 1, this note would be worth only a few hundred dollars. This twenty dollar bill, in particular, would bring close to $1,000. Make sure you consult a paper money expert before selling any currency. We will help you free of charge.

Depiction: Portrait of President Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States, was also an American soldier and statesman. He was president from 1829 to 1837.

Value: Poor condition $20 brown seal small size nationals are worth $50. Decent condition bills from a decent bank can bring $200. Great condition brown seal small size nationals from a rare bank can bring over $1,000.
