The 1878 $100 silver certificates have James Monroe on the left-hand side of the bill. As seen below, these bills have blue serial number ink and a red seal at the center of the note. There is also a red 100 below the seal that is beautifully printed.
The back of all 1878 one hundred dollar silver certificates have the word SILVER printed in large bold letters.
